    FORA.tv is an online television station delivering discourse, discussions and debates on the world’s most interesting political, social and cultural issues. The programmes (chiefly interviews and speeches) are divided into Arts and Culture, Business, Education, Environment, Politics, Religion, Science and Health, and Technology. Viewers are able to add comments and subject tags. All programmes are chaptered with synchronised transcripts. Some videos are available for free viewing and others are pay-per-view or membership-based.

Recent series added include The Disrupters, which explores how major industries—from music and cars to hospitality—are currently being disrupted by the latest wave of digital innovation.     The University of South Florida provides its students with a wealth of streamed material, part of which can be accessed externally. The latter includes public lectures, which can be viewed using MediaPlayer, on topics such as the World Trade Centre attack and Women’s Health, as well as a series of lectures originally delivered at the Symposia on 21st Century Teaching Technologies and several dozen bulletins of their news programme Florida Focus. There are also a number of video resources on topics such Business, Education, Engineering, Public Health and others.

    Launched in 2006, the Open University's OpenLearn website has grown to provide over 8000 study hours of video, audio and print materials from OU courses. It is not necessary to be a student of the OU to use the resources. OpenLearn does not of itself grant degrees or award credits, but there is a link for those who wish to consider formal Study at the OU. LearningSpace units are divided up into the subject areas of Body & Mind, Education, History & the Arts, Languages, Money & Management, Nature & Environment, Science, Maths & Technology, and Society. There is substantial video content included (Flash).
    In 2010 OpenLearn merged with open2.net, the site that supported OU-produced BBC general programming. So now OpenLearn also gives access to topical and interactive content, from expert blogs, to videos and games that enrich these programmes.

    The Research Channel was an educational television network based at the University of Washington in Seattle and operated by a consortium of leading US research and academic institutions who contributed science-related programming to viewers in the United States and in other countries via satellite and cable television. Due to funding issues broadcasting ceased in 2010, but the collection of over 300 programmes is still available on YouTube.

    Gresham College, named after Sir Thomas Gresham, has been giving free lectures for some 400 years. Over 2,000 audio and/or video lectures given since 2001 are available on the site for free, on-demand streaming or download approximately two weeks after they have been given. The main subject areas are Art & Literature, Medical Science, Business, History, Law, Mathematics, Music, Politics, Religion, Science, and Unusual, which includes Media, Education, Climate Change and others. Results can also be filtered by subcategories. For example, there is a section on Film under the Arts & Literature category, and a section on Film Music under the Music category. The lectures last, on average, between 25 minutes and a little under an hour. They all have a good number of chapters and a fair amount of information is given on the site as well as transcripts and links to related materials.
    The content can also be browsed via the tab Watch which contains four groupings: All Past Lectures, Series, Shorts and Short Series.

    green.tv, launched in March 2006, is a broadband tv channel for environmental films based in London and supported by the United Nations Environment Programme. It brings together films from a range of environmental organisations and independent filmmakers. It includes podcasts and RSS feeds. Videos are themed in the categories Business, Climate Change, Living, People, Transport, Technology, Nature,, and Energy. Partner channels featured on the site include UNEP (the United Nations Environment Programme), Greenpeace, IFAW (The International Fund for Animal Welfare), Friends of the Earth, New Consumer (championing fair trade and ethical living throughout the world), Friction.tv (an online platform for user generated news and opinion) and many more.

    Research-TV was created by the University of Warwick to provide broadcasters with a regular news feed of stories about cutting-edge research. It divides its programmes up into Health, Technology, Society, Science and Nature, Business, and Creative and Cultural. Each comes with synopsis, transcript, links, and the programme in narrowband or broadband options (using Windows Media Player). All stories produced by Research-TV’s news professionals are made available to broadcasters free of charge through the APTN service, on local ends for UK broadcasters and London-based foreign correspondents, with additional tape distribution upon request. All stories are available for preview online on the website, on other online video sites (YouTube, Public.TV, OSTN), and also as vodcasts on iTunes.
