The Developmental Biology Cinema section of the Society for Developmental Biology website shows video sequences of developing embryos for educational use, with brief supporting text descriptions of the sequences. Small versions on the website are suitable for individual use, and large versions may be downloaded for projection in the classroom. Titles currently available are fly morphogesis, calcium tsunami, dynamics of thin filopodia, and quail chick chimeras.

The Vega Science Trust aims to support and promote the science and technology communities through the use of television and the Internet. It produces television programmes, many of which have been broadcast on BBC2’s Learning Zone. The site contains details of the programmes, searchable by series, subject and speaker, which can be ordered online. There are also video clips (in QuickTime and MPEG formats), complete audio lectures (using RealAudio), complete video lectures by Harry Kroto, and a useful set of links to science video and related sources.

Three series of podcasts: ‘Science Talk’ is a weekly audio report by Steve Mirsky discussing the latest developments in science and technology through interviews with leading scientists and journalists. The service began in February 2006 and is available by podcast or online download. ‘60-Second Science’ is a daily, one-minute report or commentary on a topic of scientific interest. ‘60-Second Psych’ is a weekly, one-minute commentary on the latest studies in neuroscience and behaviour, which is issued each Thursday.
