An interactive, multimedia website created by physicists at the University of New South Wales, which presents a series of animated guides to Einstein’s theory of special relativity. The guides take the form of six modules which proceed from a discussion of Galilean relativity and mechanics, through a look at Einstein’s theory itself, a consideration of time dilation and a look at the implications of the theory called ‘Beyond Relativity’. Each animation comes with detailed background notes, giving more complete explanations.

The videos are broadly divided into subject areas, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics., with a particular focus on space science and astronomy, and include a series of videos on relativity. The videos are all self-contained but also work as a narrative sequence and are embedded in a ‘science fiction/romance’ story, intended to give structure to the collection and to help teachers and educators with lesson planning. The videos can be downloaded as M4V files, in HD or standard definition and users are free to edit and repurpose the clips as they see fit. Full transcripts of each episode are also available to download.

These brief animated films are narrated by comedian David Mitchell and were developed by a team from the Open University’s Science faculty. The videos cover concepts such as dark matter, the Big Bang, asteroids, black holes and event horizons, aiming to explain big scientific ideas and, in the words of OU Reader in Cosmology Dr Stephen Serjeant, ‘still have room for a few jokes’. The films are available on YouTube and can be downloaded for free from iTunes. A sister series 60 Second Adventures in Economics takes a similar approach to explaining concepts of economic theory.

A podcast "based around ideas of the enlightenment" which promotes science, freedom of expression, scepticism, secular humanism, and often ends up dealing with the converse of these values: superstition, religious fundamentalism and authoritarianism. The show has featured numerous guests from the worlds of science, literature, philosophy and politics, including Frank Furedi, A.C. Grayling, Christopher Hitchens, Jonathan Meades to name but a few. The approach is often polemical but the result is always informative and entertaining. The programmes are free to download. The series is also broadcast on Resonance FM.

Series of videos sponsored by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, which offer an insight into the research "backstage" at a number of British science facilities, including the ISIS pulse neutron and muon source at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire, and the United Kingdom Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh.
The site can be navigated via an aerial view page, where thumbnails of the videos are shown next to the location where the research is carried out. The videos show scientists in their workplace explaining the work they do. These short films are supplemented by a series of Q&A videos where the scientists go into further detail about their work.
