    The official website of astrophysicist Professor Stephen Hawking. The Video tab lists the series Stephen Hawking’s Grand Designs, Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking and Stephen Hawking’s Universe with links to purchase at amazon.com. There are also links to interviews and lectures hosted on YouTube; these include Hawking’s appearance on The Simpsons, the 50th NASA Anniversary Lecture and a lecture delivered at the White House in 1998 introduced by Hillary Clinton. The site also provides transcripts of some of Hawking’s lectures and a list of his publications.

    The Perimeter Institute is a centre for scientific research, training and educational outreach in foundational theoretical physics, based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Since 2007 the institute has been creating video recordings of its seminars, conference talks and outreach events and making them freely available on its website. Each video is accompanied by an abstract and classified according to its speaker and research area. Subjects include condensed matter, quantum fields and strings, mathematical physics, quantum gravity and cosmology. The seminars are also available to view on the PIRSA or Perimeter Institute Recorded Seminar Archive: a ‘a permanent, free, searchable, and citable archive of recorded seminars’. The seminars here are available in Windows Media, Flash, MP3, and PDF of slide or presentation materials.

    GEOSET (Global Educational Outreach for Science, Engineering and Technology) is a freely accessible, searchable internet gateway to a selection of SET and related educational materials. Most of the videos take the form of ‘concept modules’ - rather than whole lectures or courses - focused on specific topics, in the form of split-screen presentations, in which the video of the presenter is in one window and the educational material synchronised and presented in a second window. GEOSET also links to other major sources of educational material such as at the Vega archive site and the Royal Society. Users can filter by age suitability, type of video, and subject.
