    These streamed audiovisual resources are presented by Baylor College of Medicine in the US and are combination Power Point and video and/or audio lectures, aimed at both teachers and students. Topics covered include Biology classification, bio-terrorism, animal behaviour, ecosystems, asthma as well as extended sections looking at the human organism and laboratory techniques. Also included are a large number of slides which can be downloaded and used. The presentations last approximately a quarter of an hour and the encoding is of a good standard throughout.

    The Office of Human Radiation Experiments leads the USA Department of Energy’s efforts to tell the agency’s Cold War story of radiation research using human subjects. Historic documents are being made available over the Internet, and these include audio and video recordings. The films, from the National Archives, include The Atom and You, Paramount News, 25 March 1953; Iodine - 131 (1958) that shows three actual case studies on patients treated at Argonne National Laboratory in 1949; and Atom in the Hospital (1961), showing UCLA research and findings of the effects of radiation on the human body. The films require Real, available for 28.8K, 56K or T1 connections.

    Findsounds.com is a search engine for sounds. Sounds can be accessed via a simple search or by searching from sound types. Audio files can be downloaded as AIFF, AU and WAVE. Sound types are divided into various categories, including Birds, Animals, Mayhem and Nature. The sound files within these are extensive: for example, there are eight volcano sound files, twenty-five sound files of didgeridoos, eleven examples of thunder, and five kookaburra recordings. All searches link the user to audio files hosted by external websites.

    The Engines of Our Ingenuity is an American radio programme telling the story of how our culture is formed by human creativity. The programme web site houses the transcripts for every episode heard since the show’s inception in 1988. Streaming audio is available on each of the posted episodes (using Real). The wide range of subjects over nearly 2,000 episodes include Leon Theremin, the number zero, windmills, the camera obscura, mind reading, mousetraps and paperclips, the Lunar Society, and Food in Early Texas.

    Site dedicated to psychologist and behavioural scientist B.F. Skinner. The Foundation exists "to educate the public about B.F. Skinner’s work, and to promote an understanding of the role of contingencies in human behavior". The site used to include a 67-minute audio file (using Real Player) of a presentation by Skinner, ‘On Having a Poem’, which discusses verbal behaviour from a behaviour analytic perspective and the criticisms of that position. At present (2009) this is no longer available though small video files are steadily being added.
