    This site provides online access to a selection of the Open University’s materials - images and text-based items as well as audio and videos - as well as functioning as a record and an archive of the OU’s collections. Publicly available collections currently include over 160 images from the Historical Archives Collection, over 100 videos of OU events, such as degree ceremonies and other programmes about the OU, dating back to 1971. OU’s programmes are represented by a series of clips from courses which include science, technology and the arts. A number of online exhibitions have also been created to contextualise some of the material. These include: ‘Shakespeare at the OU’, ‘Harold Wilson and the OU’ and ‘The OU Story’.

    Site gathering information and resources aimed at teachers who wish to use the ‘Mantle of the Expert’ pedagogy developed by pioneering drama teacher Dorothy Heathcote, who lectured at the University of Newcastle from 1950 - 1986. Heathcote’s methodology is based on using drama as a tool to stimulate holistic learning and has been applied at all levels from primary schools to universites, and beyond the academy to management and business training. The site features podcasts, film and video clips, including the 1971 Omnibus documentary ‘Three Looms Waiting’, made by Ron Smedley which explores the life and work of Heathcote.

    Blog with a scholarly bent devoted to British television drama, ‘from its earliest days to the present day’. An entire section is devoted to the BBC’s Play For Today, consisting of a chronological list of plays, with credits, stills where available, and essays/interviews about individual plays by David Rolinson (who is the site’s creator) and others.

    An essay on Alan Clarke, which makes particular reference to Clarke’s ‘Play for Today’ work has been updated to mention the BFI’s 2016 DVD and Blu-Ray release 'Dissent and Disruption’, a collection of surviving stand-alone BBC TV dramas that Alan Clarke directed between 1969 and 1989.
