The website of the USA-based Competitive Enterprise Institute contains two thirty-second television advertisements which speak out against calls by environmental groups and some politicians for reduced energy use to combat global warming. The ads were broadcast in 14 U.S. cities from May 18 to May 28, 2006. The CEI is a public policy group backed by Exxon Mobil, General Motors and Ford and dedicated to advancing the principles of free enterprise and limited government. The ads were launched to tie in with the release of the Al Gore documentary AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH which aims to change the prevailing American view of climate change. A spoof film making fun of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH is also available via the CEI website. Streaming is via YouTube.
