External Site: National Film Board of Canada[info]
Founded in 1939 by John Grierson, the NFB became renowned for its support filmmakers such as Norman McLaren and for a bulk of work which for many true came to represent Canadian life on film. The site, which is available in French and English, offers a considerable amount of data on its past, organised by decades, as well as information on new productions and activities and a full listing of its 6,200 plus productions. The complete collection of animations, documentaries and feature films is streamed for free online viewing, with some having closed captioning or described video.
