Lost & Found Sound was an American radio programme that ran until about 2005. The aim of the project, formed through a national collaboration of radio producers, artists, journalists, sound collectors, film sound designers and radio listeners, was to gather sound recordings that document the 20th century. The emphasis is on home recordings and the weekly programmes, on such themes as the Galveston storm of 1900, the Dust Bowl, trains, and Vietnam (including Vietnamese manicurists), are archived and streamed in RealAudio at 14.4K, 28.8K or G2 SureStream, often accompanied by background texts.
