Learning on Screen Awards Ceremony 2012
All nominated entries were showcased and the winners of each category were announced at the Learning on Screen Awards 2012 on the evening of Thursday 26 April 2012 at the BFI Southbank, London.
The evening was presented by Professor Stewart Purvis, Professor of Television Journalism, City University London, formerly Editor-in-Chief and then Chief Executive at ITN and Ofcom’s Partner for Content and Standards. Other members of the jury joined Stewart in presenting the awards to the winning entrants.
The evening included a guest speech from Professor Lord Winston, Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College London. 
Committed to scientific education, Lord Winston regularly writes and hosts popular science programmes. Most significantly these have included ‘Child of Our Time’ (BBC1:2000-2004), ‘Child Against All Odds’ (BBC1:2006) and the three time BAFTA award winner ‘The Human Body’ (BBC1:1998).
Professor Lord Winston has written thirteen books and has around 300 scientific publications in peer-review journals on reproduction and embryology. His activities in the House of Lords include speaking regularly on education, science, medicine and the arts and he was voted ‘Peer of the Year’ by his fellow Parliamentarians in June 2008.
The Awards Ceremony was followed by a networking drinks reception.
