Olafur Elliasson
- Synopsis
- A portrait of the Danish artist Olafur Eliasson, best known in Britain for his 2003 installation The Weather Project at Tate Modern. The film introduces Eliasson’s work and aesthetic theories as it documents one of his largest exhibitions, ‘Notion Motion’, at the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. Since the early 1990s, Olafur Eliasson, who was born in 1967 and grew up in Copenhagen, has built up a wide range of work using rainbows, sunsets, waterfalls, scent walls, mist, shafts of light and periscopes. His art explores the relationships between natural phenomena and technology, and it makes the viewer aware of the ways in which they are seeing and experiencing the art.
In addition to the 30-minute film, the DVD also includes an wide-ranging hour-long interview with the artist conducted by Adrian Searle, art critic of The Guardian. - Series
