Goya
- Synopsis
- Francisco de Goya was certainly the most relentless chronicler of his epoch. As a court painter, satirist, war reporter and topographer of the inner self, he created an incredibly varied oeuvre over the course of his life which, in its radical approach, was very much ahead of its time. This film dives into the world of the gifted artist, grippingly presented and commented by Robert Hughes, one of the leading art critics of our time, as well as Goya specialists around the world. From light to dark, Hughes pursues the artistic transformation of the Spaniard who was, in the end, affected by such aspects as illness, war, inquisition and the presence of human abysses.
