Party, The

Synopsis
Janet has just been appointed as shadow health minister, the crowning achievement of her political career. She and her husband Bill plan to celebrate this with a few close friends. As the guests arrive at their home in London the party takes an unexpected turn when Bill suddenly makes some explosive revelations that take everyone present by surprise. By referencing Edwards Albee’s 1962 play WHO IS AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF, Mike Leigh’s ABIGAIL’S PARTY and the PLAY FOR TODAY TV drama series, the film taps into cinema’s long and complex relationship with theatre.
