Shedding Light on Lenses

Synopsis
This programme uses visuals and animations to explain how convex and concave lenses produce images in a wide variety of situations. After a quick recap on refraction, presenter Spiros Liacos shows how magnifying glasses work and how projectors produce giant images on giant cinema screens. The video then look into a tuna fish’s eye to show how human eyes work. Viewers will learn how concave lenses produce images and discusses how spectacles help people who have vision defect.

The resource contains two bonus features the first of which takes a look at slow motion, fast motion and stop motion. The second feature is aimed at a more advanced level and covers the mathematics of lenses and image formation.
