1001 Million Saharan Nights: Petroleum Geology of Southern Libya
- Synopsis
- Libya is rich in hydrocarbons and the southern part of the country in particular has attracted much of the petroleum industry’s attention.
This film aims to give a comprehensive introduction into the petroleum geology of the Murzuq and Kufra basins. The film is divided into 7 parts lasting 30-45 minutes each and may be used in individual or group training.
Desert outcrop scenes integrated with subsurface data form the core of the film and are supplemented by 3D¬satellite flights, conceptual 2D- and 3D-animations and modern facies analogues.
Senior geological experts are interviewed, introducing the key elements of the regional geological history. A robust knowledge of the main trends in sedimentary facies and tectonic history forms the basis for efficient hydrocarbon exploration in the region. - Language
