Life After Death

Synopsis
Ideas about the soul and the afterlife, of sin and God’s purpose have shaped human thinking for thousands of years. Religious rituals remain embedded in the major events of our lives. In this thought-provoking series, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins asks what happens if we leave religion behind. He explores what reason and science might offer to inspire and guide our lives in religion’s place. Can science bring understanding in the face of death, help us tell right from wrong or reveal the point of life in the first place?

Notes
The BBC Active site, now run by Pearson Education, brings together the previously separate BBC collections covering English Language Learning (formerly BBC ELT), resources for foreign language learning, and the Schools section. The main section of the site is Broadcast Learning (previously known as BBC Videos for Education and Training and more recently BBC Learning) which lists a selection of general output broadcast programmes that BBC Active can supply for purchase by educational institutions. If a particular programme is not listed in this section it can be requested and usually supplied ‘on demand’, subject to rights clearances. Sale on DVD/video, and digital licences are also available to allow BBC training and education videos to be shown in online environments.
