Pain and Arthritis

Synopsis
People with arthritis live with severe pain. Even just getting dressed can be an agonising ordeal. Yet we are still not sure how to manage it. Arthritis affects young and old alike. Joint replacement surgery can provide relief, but 15% of patients report persistent pain even after their operations. The UK’s ageing population and rising obesity will see an increase in arthritis over the next 10 to 20 years. The need to better understand arthritis and improve the lives of people who suffer from it has never been more urgent. [5 minutes]
