Hedy Lamarr: Secrets of a Hollywood Star / Extase

Synopsis
This 2 disc set comprises a documentary about the Hollywood star and the 1933 Czech film EXTASE (ECSTASY), which caused controversy at the time for its sexual content, particularly the sequence depicting the face of Lamarr’s character in close-up as she experiences orgasm. The documentary presents a picture of the star through a series of interviews with friends and colleagues including Mickey Rooney, Lupita Kohner and Kenneth Anger. Considered by the MGM-tycoon Louis B. Mayer to be "the most beautiful woman of the century", and epitomising mystery and seduction, Lamarr was also a highly intelligent mathematician whose work during World War II on a torpedo guidance system to which the control signal changed frequencies to avoid enemy jamming, forms the backbone of today’s communication networks, including Blue Tooth and Wifi.
