Synopsis
A compilation of nine documentaries from the Films of Scotland Collection at the Scottish Screen Archive. All the films have been restored and digitally transferred to High Definition.

The films are: SEAWARDS THE GREAT SHIPS (1960) - Scotland’s First Oscar Winner, the story of Clyde shipbuilding; The BIG MILL (1963) - Steel making in the West of Scotland. Gartcosh, Ravenscraig and more; The SILVER CITY (1957) - the delights of Aberdeen as a holiday destination; PLEASURE ISLAND (1960) - holidays on the Firth of Clyde, Rothesay and the Isle of Bute; A KIND OF SEEING (1967) - the colours and shapes of the Scottish landscape; The FACE OF SCOTLAND (1938) - the character of Scotland and its people, and how they were shaped by history, and STILL LIFE WITH HONESTY (1970) - painter Sir William Gillies speaks of his life’s work.

The Blu-ray edition also includes the films NEW DAY (1959) - A look at the industries of Fife and life in Glenrothes New Town as seen through the eyes of a miner and his family, and GLASGOW 1980 (1971) - A journey around Glasgow to see how the city might look in 1980 after redevelopment.
