Synopsis
Tom Stoppard’s adaptation of Ford Madox Ford’s novel tells the story of English aristocrats Christopher and Sylvia Tietjens. As the decadence of the Edwardian era makes way for the destruction of the First World War, the Tietjens’ marriage grows ever more unstable. Christopher is determined to stay loyal to his wife despite her numerous infidelities, but finds his resolve tested when he meets courageous young suffragette Valentine Wannop.
