Psychology of Power, The

Synopsis
An exploration of the nature, sources, possibilities and implications of power, taking into account issues such as balance, influence, personal responsibility and abuse of power. The five sources of power identified by French and Raven (1959) [reward, coercive, legitimate, referent and expert] are outlined together with the possibilities of power being legitimate / illegitimate, good / evil, enabling / disabling, direct / indirect. Normative and informational influences on power are examined as well as balance and equity.
