War on Science, A

Synopsis
In the town of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, an unprecedented legal battle is underway. A group of scientists and university professors have become the first in the US to demand the teaching of the controversial theory of ‘intelligent design’, which stipulates that nature is so improbable and complicated that it cannot be explained by the processes of evolution, and, by implication, proves the existence of a God. In contrast the plaintiffs, Kitzmiller et al, vehemently oppose what they see as a scientific step backwards. Horizon asks: can the gaps in evolutionary theory ever be resolved?
