- Synopsis
- Based on the life of Wilfred Owen, the poet, who died in 1918, this film is a blend of Benjamin Britten’s music, Owen’s poetry and director Derek Jarman’s visuals. The film includes wartime footage drawn from the archives of the Imperial War Museum and the cast includes Sean Bean, Laurence Olivier and Tilda Swinton. DVD extras include: New High Defintion transfer and remastered audio track; ‘Requiem for Jarman’ - a recollection on the making of the film with producer Don Boyd and stars Tilda Swinton and Nat Parker; ‘War Requiem Live in Liverpoool’ - A feature on the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s 2008 performance of Britten’s masterpiece in Liverpool Cathedral; Commentary with producer Don Boyd.
