War Feels Like War

Synopsis
In the build up to the Iraq war over 3,000 journalists gathered in Kuwait City. A chosen minority were allowed to live and move with the armed forces. The rest, who became known as unilaterals, were stopped from entering Iraq. This is the story of those who were trapped in Kuwait and those who managed to cross the border to find out what war really feels like. The film records their frustration, fear, shock and horror as they fight their way to Bagdad.

Director Esteban Uyarra travelled with some of these journalists. His camera records the impact of the war on those who attempted to report it without the security blanket of big broadcasting organisations. It shows the risks they took, the situations they witnessed on the ground and the way they coped in their different ways. Through its main and its subsidiary characters, the film reveals the addictive nature of modern war reporting - how it affects journalists personally and how hard it then is to return to a normal life back home.
