In Celebration

Synopsis
This production was devised by Hollywood producer Ely Landau, whose aim was to combine the excitement of live theatre with the accessibility and visual possibilities of film. With director Lindsay Anderson, they reunite the cast from his lauded original Royal Court Theatre production of David Storey’s semi-autobiographical play, In Celebration.

Alan Bates, James Bolam, and Brian Cox play three brothers returning to the northern mining town they grew up in for their parents’ fortieth wedding Anniversary. Some long-buried and painful truths bubble to the surface of this family reunion as the three grown sons argue over their individual problems. A moving study of a family at breaking point, a story of love, repressed emotions and of ultimate redemption.

84 minutes of DVD extras include: an interviews with Alan Bates and David Storey; "David Storey and In Celebration" - an essay by Michael Feingold; The AFT Cinebill for In Celebration; stills gallery.
