Kenneth Tynan - In Praise of Hardcore

Synopsis
Television drama-documentary. Recounts how theatre critic and National Theatre dramaturg, Kenneth Tynan, protested against the theatre’s prudish attitude to sex with his erotic revue Oh, Calcutta. Julian Sands plays Olivier and there are scenes of Olivier discussing and rehearsing his blacked-up role as Othello for the National Theatre’s 1964 production directed by John Dexter.
