Synopsis
Shot over two years, Edgar Reitz’s 11-part series HEIMAT, made for German television, is a semi-autobiographical drama telling the the saga of a German family, living in a small village, from the end of World War I to 1982. The family, like the rest of the German people, live through the crises after World War1, the rise and fall of Nazism and World War 2, and the ensuing rebuilding and ensuing prosperity of the village.
