Emotional Literacy and Transactional Analysis
- Synopsis
- Emotional literacy is the sophisticated understanding of what we and others feel, how strongly and why, and how to use our emotions so that they will work for us, instead of against us. Emotional literacy training has three stages: opening the heart; surveying the emotional landscapes; taking responsibility. Claude Steiner discusses the history and development of this concept of emotional literacy, and illustrates how the use of transactional analysis methods can move the person from emotional numbness to emotional awareness, empathy and emotional interactivity.
