Cesaria Evora, Morna Blues
- Synopsis
- A portrait of Cesaria Evora from Mindelo, Cape Verde, who specialises in melodies of the ‘Morna’', a form of Cape Verdien blues. Her music tells what she believes is the tragic destiny of her country. Behind the melodies are centuries of suffering and bloodshed, pride, sorrow and nostalgia and she entices her audience to look behind the beauty of the songs to the story they tell. The DVD includes extended concert footage.
