Not My Type: Valuing Diversity

Synopsis
A video-based training pack that challenges individuals to become aware of their own thinking processes and question their misleading assumptions about other people. It aims to help them see others as individuals and demonstrates how to benefit from a rich diversity of backgrounds and experience. The programme introduces individuals who are both familiar to us and differ from us in significant ways. It gives a powerful insight into their diverse lives and allows us to see how our minds process information about others. Consists of two 8-minute videos - one with ‘assumptions’ , the other without; an audio-only version; a course leader’s guide and computer disk containing Powerpoint slides/OHPs and a self-study workbook. The support materials were written by diversity experts Dr George Simons and Dr Walt Hopkins.
