Synopsis
One of a series of 13 short films about remarkable scientific discoveries by Nobel prizewinners and their colleagues.

This film looks at the discovery of radioactivity by the three French Nobel Prizewinners Marie and Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel and its application in the atomic bomb and the generation of nuclear electricity. Subjects covered include radioactivity in medicine, archaeology and space exploration; the problem of disposing spent nuclear fuel; and the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986.
