Histoire d’Une Baie

Synopsis
The geomorphological history of the Bay of Mont St Michel is reconstructed from the peak of the last glaciation, through the Flandrian transgression, to the rapid depositional history of recent times. The approach is strictly chronological, and the evidence for successive paleaoenvironments principally sedimentological. Examples of periglacial deposits, including solifluctual and wind borne material, and later estuarine sedimentary sequences are examined in the field. Reconstructions are demonstrated by a series of maps showing the rapidly changing coastline of the area.
