Synopsis
The story of the new Glyndebourne Opera House, rebuilt in the early 1990s and officially opened in 1994. Reveals the underlying philosophy of Glyndebourne and the determination of many people, including Sir George Christie, the son of Glyndebourne’s founder, to raise funds. Follows the development of the 1200-seat auditorium, from initial planning with architects Michael Hopkins and Partners in 1991, through the demolition of the old building in 1992, to the opening of the new opera house in 1994.
