Freedom Railway

Synopsis
Shows the building of a railroad from the coast at Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania to Lusaka in Zambia. Presents the political and economic case for the railroad illustrating the engineering problems faced and construction used. Emphasises the way in which Chinese aid is aimed towards self-reliance for these countries (e.g. developing an indigenous skilled workforce) and the economic spin-offs of the line (e.g. improved telecommunications).
