Synopsis
Uses newsreel footage from British Pathé to illustrate the struggles for freedom world-wide in the 20th century. Looks at apartheid in South Africa and the triumph of Nelson Mandela, East Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania, the suffragette movement, Gorbachev and democracy in the former Soviet Union, the civil rights movement in the USA and Martin Luther King.
