Synopsis

Describes the Elderly Persons Support Unit (EPSU) at Ecclesfield, the first of its kind in Great Britain and the first of five to serve Sheffield. The unit was established for 120 frail elderly people living within a half mile radius. Transport is part of the service. The ESPU community support workers replace home wardens, home helps, family aid, social work assistants and community workers.
