Floating Bridge, The
- Synopsis
- Traces the history of the Floating Bridge which, until the middle of 1977, crossed the River Itchen between Southampton and Woolston. It has now been replaced by a fixed bridge. Describes how the bridge worked and includes comments from users of the bridge just before its closure. Very few floating bridges now remain in operation in the United Kingdom.
