Fibre: The Forgotten Fraction

Synopsis
Compares certain disease patterns between the inhabitants of the Western world and those of less developed countries particularly rural Africans with those who have adopted a Western style of life in the cities, because it is now clear that urbanised Africans soon become liable to a range of diseases which are increasingly common in all the developed countries. Discusses environmental factors which might be causing this change. The most likely one is shown to be the altered style of diet and of food processing; this covers a large number of changes, but the most obvious of these is a dramatic fall in the intake of dietary fibre. *BMA/BLAT
