Essential Cell Biology Interactive

Synopsis
Videos, animations and three-dimensional molecular structures for introductory undergraduate biology courses. The videos cover cellular processes such as traffic of membrane proteins through the cell, apoptosis, chemotaxis of neutrophils, techniques such as the use of laser tweezers to probe cell structures. Animations illustrate processes such as the polymerase chain reaction, DNA replication and protein synthesis at the ribosome. The three-dimensional molecular structures range from small molecules suchs as ATP and glucose through to the giant assemblies of ATP synthase and the photosynthetic reaction centre. Intended to complement the text ‘Essential Cell Biology’ 3rd edition by Alberts et al.
