Features the art and architecture of the period 1066-1200, based on the 1984 English Romanesque Art exhibition at the Hayward Galley, London. In seven sections: introduction and background to the development of the style; the Bayeux tapestry as source material to explain the Norman conquest; Romanesque architecture in England: cathedrals, castles and domestic buildings, showing processes involved in stone restoration; sculpture; manuscripts and the craft of illumination; stained glass, showing the processes of design, production and restoration; other art forms such as metalwork and ivories.
