Synopsis
Over a continuous stream of images taken from 200 popular music videos, the narrative atttempts to educate viewers on the impact of sexual imagery in music videos. Identifies the portrayal of women in videos as props in an adolescent male dream world; the basic formats used to introduce sex and women into music videos; the behaviours, roles and activities of the women, who are depicted as nymphomaniacs; camera-framing techniques that present women sexual objects; implicit and explicit messages supportive of sexual violence and abuse); the reinforcement of attitudes that may accept such assaults as date rape as ‘normal and justified behaviour’ in the lives of young people.
