Drake’s Last Voyage
- Synopsis
- With Drake’s reputation destroyed just eight years after defeating the Spanish Armada, the film retraces his final voyage and finds that, contrary to prevailing belief, it was a shrewdly planned venture thwarted by ill furtune. The truth lies with the Guayou Indians of Colombia, in the letters of the men who sailed with him and those who tried to stop him. It appears that Drake was a raider and a privateer who managed to tun expeditions of private plunder into statements of national pride for the English.
