Aldabra Reprieved
- Synopsis
- An effective piece of nature conservation propaganda which demonstrates the unique nature of the fauna of the coral island of Aldabra (in the Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar), which was at one time threatened with destruction by a proposed air base. Some twenty species or varieties which are unique to the island are discussed and illustrated and reference made to the differences from their mainland relatives. Illustrates the importance of island isolation in the development of new species.
