- Synopsis
- In five chapters dealing with specific topics relating to nationality in different areas of Europe during the 19th century: nationalism; nations; states; language and education; habits. The programme is composed entirely of interviews with historians of the period discussing relevant aspects of their specialist areas. Participants include Edward Acton, John Breuilly, Norman Davies, Paul Ginsborg, Eric Hobsbawm, Wolfgang Mommsen, Paul Preston, Robert Tombs.
