Synopsis
Examines die casting, a process that can produce precision parts with intricate internal and external features. Looks at the most common die-cast metals, their properties, and how these properties affect the die-casting process. Examines the two principal types of die-casting, the hot chamber and cold chamber processes, using both shop-floor footage and animated sequences. Also discusses the die-casting machine’s clamping system, die-casting automation, process monitoring, how lubricants assist in the die-casting process, and the various die-cast tooling production materials and methods.
