Synopsis
Uses the example of air traffic control to illustrate the application of information systems and technology to a complex and safety-critical scenario. Shows the environment of the air traffic controller and the range and sophistication of the technology used to handle the vast amount of information needed every time an aircraft takes off and lands. Topics include pre-flight planning, take-off, in-flight navigation and traffic control, landing procedures and systems, meteorology, aircraft separation and runway data, communications radar and navigational technology.
