Dangerous Waters

Synopsis
River blindness, or onchoceriasis, which affects 17m people in the tropics, is caused by a parasite spread by small blackflies. In an effort to eradicate the disease, scientists have discovered that subtle changes in the way rivers flow may make them more suitable for the spread of river blindness. This film looks at the results of new research in Brazil.
