D H Lawrence: ‘Sons and Lovers’
- Synopsis
- Side 2: Suggests that as in a ‘bildungsroman’ Lawrence writes of a young man learning about himself. The Paul-Miriam-Clara-Dawes relationship is discussed suggesting to the speakers an analogy with that of Paul and his parents. The critics contend that the weakness of the novel lies in the treatment of Dawes, possibly due to a lack of biographical background.
