Adventures of Prince Achmed, The

Synopsis
Based on tales from ‘The Arabian Nights’ this is one of the first full-length animated films in the history of cinema. It uses silhouette animation, based on the ancient Chinese and Indonesian art of shadow plays which Lotte Reiniger adapted for the cinema. This tinted and toned version has been restored and features a new recording of the original orchestral score. The DVD has options for subtitles or voiceover and features a 60-minute documentary on Reiniger.
