Buildings - Who Cares?
- Synopsis
- Many options exist between the instinct to create new buildings and to preserve existing ones. This film, developed from an original idea by architect Donald Insali, examines the implications on three different levels, ranging from an individual monument (Binham Priory in Norfolk - once a monastery, now a ruin centred on a parish church) through a village (Lavenham in Suffolk, with its rich history of timber building) to city scale (the active urban conservation programme being pursued in Chester). Through the eyes of the local people, architects and others involved (including Lord Montagu, as Chairman of English Heritage) the theme is developed in a recognition that change will continue.
